Otake Bridge, Steel bridge in northern Tokyo, Japan

Otake Bridge crosses the Sumida River using a steel girder structure that spans about 370 meters long and 12 meters wide. The bridge accommodates both vehicle and pedestrian traffic across its decks.

The bridge was completed in the late 1900s as Tokyo expanded its transportation network across the Sumida River. Its construction represented an important step in connecting northern districts of the city.

The bridge brings together people from both riverbanks for local celebrations and everyday crossings, creating a shared space for the community.

The bridge is accessible throughout the year with regular maintenance keeping it in good condition. You can cross it easily on foot or by vehicle from multiple entry points on either side.

The steel structure was engineered using advanced techniques to minimize maintenance needs over decades. This design choice allows the bridge to serve the city with minimal disruption for repairs.
