Jogu-jinja, Shinto shrine in Japan

Jogu-jinja is a small shrine in Tsuruga with simple wooden structures and a thatched roof design that blends into the surrounding landscape. The shrine features a main worship hall and smaller statues, surrounded by stone paths and green trees that frame the grounds throughout the year.

The shrine was established as the rear shrine of Kehi Jingu and is linked to Empress Jingu, a legendary figure who prayed here after childbirth of a prince who later became Emperor Ojin. This connection to this historical figure has shaped the shrine's significance to the present day.

This shrine is the rear shrine of Kehi Jingu and is connected to Empress Jingu, a legendary historical figure in Japanese tradition. Visitors come to seek blessings for safe childbirth and safe travels, as the empress is worshiped as a goddess of safe delivery.

The shrine is accessible year-round and offers free parking for visitors arriving by car. By bus, the shrine is easily reached, and visitors should practice quiet and respectful behavior by observing the torii gates and keeping the grounds tidy.

Each July, the Sosansai Festival takes place when the god of Kehi Jingu Shrine, Emperor Chuai, crosses the water in a small divine boat to visit his wife, Empress Jingu, at this shrine. This celebration tells a romantic story reminiscent of the Tanabata festival tradition.
