Mount Taishaku

Mount Taishaku is a 2,060 meter (6,759 foot) peak in Tochigi Prefecture accessible through several established hiking routes. These trails wind through thick forests and rocky ground on the way to the summit.

The mountain has served as an important geographical landmark in the Tochigi region since ancient times. Local communities relied on it for generations to distinguish their territories from neighboring areas.

The name Taishaku comes from Shakra, a Buddhist deity, showing how mountain worship has been tied to religious beliefs in Japan for generations.
