Japan Women's University, Educational institution in Bunkyo and Tama, Japan
Japan Women's University operates two campuses in Tokyo and Kawasaki with academic programs spanning home economics, humanities, integrated arts, social sciences, and natural sciences. The institution serves students from elementary school through graduate level across its various facilities.
The university was founded in 1901 as Japan's oldest private women's university, established by education reformer Jinzo Naruse. This founding set a path for providing higher education to women during an important period of social change.
The university follows three educational principles: Firm Conviction, Spontaneity and Creativity, and Service to Society that shape how students engage with their studies. These values are visible in how the campus community organizes activities and supports one another.
The Mejiro Campus can be reached via Tokyo Metro, using either the Fukutoshin Line from Zoshigaya Station or the Yurakucho Line from Gokokuji Station. Both stations are clearly marked and the campus area is walkable from these stops.
The institution maintains an integrated educational system from kindergarten through graduate school, including the Homei elementary school and affiliated research institutes. This continuous structure allows for seamless progression across all educational levels.
