Asahikawa Taisetsu Arena, Indoor sports complex in Asahikawa, Japan
Asahikawa Taisetsu Arena is a multipurpose indoor facility in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, recognizable by its cylindrical outer shell. Inside, it holds a full-size ice surface, a large conference hall, and exhibition areas that can be rearranged depending on the event.
The arena opened on September 28, 1986, and soon became a central venue for sport and entertainment across Hokkaido. Its construction helped position Asahikawa as a sports destination within the region.
In winter, the ice surface draws skaters and hockey fans from across the Hokkaido region. In summer, the floor is cleared for concerts, trade fairs, and local events that bring together very different crowds.
The arena is about a 15-minute walk (roughly 1 km) from Asahikawa Station and can also be reached by bus. On-site parking is available for those arriving by car.
The exhibition floor can be split into up to four separate sections, allowing different events to run at the same time under one roof. This level of internal division is uncommon for an arena of this size.
