The Honkawa Bridge is a concrete and steel structure in Niigata that crosses a waterway and connects different parts of the city. It accommodates both vehicular and pedestrian traffic on its span.

The bridge opened in October 1975 as a maintenance access structure for the Shinano River Water Gate. In July 1982, a city road linking Anegawara and Ariake-Ohashi-machi in Chuo Ward with Sekiya-Horiwari-machi in Nishi Ward was completed, opening the bridge to general traffic.

The bridge carries the name Honkawa, meaning "main river", because it stands at the point where the Shinano River splits off the Sekiya diversion channel, just by the Shinano River floodgate it was built to serve. It began as a maintenance crossing for that gate in October 1975 and opened to general traffic in July 1982, when the city road linking Anegawara, Ariake-Ohashicho and Sekiya-Horiwaricho was completed.

The bridge is accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles throughout the year as a main commuter route. Winter conditions may affect crossing times due to seasonal weather patterns in the region.

The bridge stands beside the Shinano River Water Gate and was first opened in October 1975 as a maintenance bridge for that gate.
