Yokohama Media Tower, Communication tower in Minatomirai, Japan

Yokohama Media Tower is a 22-storey building, 104.6 m tall, topped by a roughly 150 m steel communications mast that brings the total height to about 253 m. Its facade is shaped like a straight mobile phone with an extended antenna. The tower holds NTT Docomo offices and microwave antennas, and the Yokohama City disaster-prevention radio control station.

NTT Facilities completed this telecommunications center in 1999, creating a hub for the city's media infrastructure. The project was part of the wider modernization push in the harbor district.

The building's silhouette imitates a straight-type mobile phone with an extended antenna, a design choice tied to its NTT Docomo function. The tower is lit at night, and the lighting colour changes monthly—blue, red, green, yellow-green, orange. A radio studio once hosted public recordings of FM Yokohama programmes.

The tower stands at 4-7-3 Minatomirai, Nishi-ku, between Minatomirai Station and Shin-Takashima Station on the Minatomirai Line. The ground floor has a drugstore and an EV fast charger; the second floor has a showroom and vending machines. There is no observation deck.

The tower's silhouette was modelled on a straight, antenna-extended mobile phone, a design choice that dates the building to the late 1990s. At night the 150-metre steel mast is lit, and the colour changes every month — blue, red, green, yellow-green and orange among them. The lighting scheme won a North American Illuminating Engineering Society award in 2000.
