Suigō Sawara Festival Float Museum

The Suigō Sawara Festival Float Museum is located at Yasaka Shrine and displays traditional festival floats carved from zelkova wood with detailed sculptures and ornamental figures. These floats reach heights of about 8 meters (26 feet) and showcase fine craftsmanship throughout their construction.

The museum preserves floats from the prosperous Edo period when Sawara thrived through water trade along the Tone River near Tokyo. The craft traditions of float construction developed during this era of economic growth and continue to be passed down through generations.

The floats on display reflect local traditions tied to Yasaka Shrine and are brought out during seasonal celebrations that remain central to the community's identity.
