Kotoni, Administrative district in Nishi-ku, Japan.

Kotoni is an administrative district in Nishi-ku that spans residential areas and commercial zones, featuring department stores, restaurants, and apartment buildings along its main thoroughfares. Two railway stations, both named Kotoni, provide connections to the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line and the Hakodate Main Line.

The district developed from agricultural lands during the Meiji period as Sapporo expanded, with its name originating from the Ainu language. These early roots continue to shape the area's identity today.

The Kotoni shrine serves as a central gathering point where residents participate in seasonal festivals and traditional Japanese celebrations throughout the year. These gatherings shape the social rhythm of the neighborhood.

The two railway stations make reaching other parts of the city straightforward, especially when using the Tozai Line or Hakodate Main Line. The area is easy to explore on foot, with main streets clearly laid out.

Cherry blossom trees line the streets and create a fleeting springtime display as pink flowers emerge each year. This seasonal occurrence draws visitors who time their visit to experience the blooming period.
