Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium, Olympic ski jumping hill and observation deck in Miyanomori, Japan

Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium is a large ski jumping facility on the eastern slope of Mount Okura in Miyanomori, serving mainly as a national training center and offering an observation platform for visitors. The facility consists of a tall metal framework supporting the in-run tower, a steep landing area, and seating sections arranged at the lower end of the slope.

A businessman financed the construction of the jump in 1931 with the backing of an imperial prince, before gifting the site to Sapporo city government. The facility was later rebuilt for the 1972 Winter Olympics and has since been modernized several times to meet international standards.

The complex bears the name of the businessman who originally owned the hillside site and later handed it over to the city. Today Japanese national teams use the facility regularly for training and competitions, while visitors in the stands can view the steep profile of the ramp from the athletes' perspective.

Access is via bus from Maruyama terminal, followed by a short uphill walk to the entrance area. The observation platform at the top can be reached by elevator or stairs, with the upper level offering a wide view over the city and surrounding mountains.

A three-floor museum within the complex displays equipment and documents tracing the development of winter sports in the region. The platform sits over three hundred meters above sea level and offers a viewing angle that makes the jumping angle of athletes easier to understand.
