Asahiyama Memorial Park

Asahiyama Memorial Park is a green space featuring walking paths, hanging bridges, and an observation deck located 137.5 meters above sea level. From this vantage point, visitors see Sapporo's cityscape, the Ishikari Plain, and surrounding terrain spreading outward.

The park was founded in 1970 by the municipal government to mark 100 years since Sapporo's establishment as a planned modern city. This milestone reflected the city's growth into a major urban center.

The park draws residents and visitors who gather here to enjoy seasonal changes, watching cherry blossoms in spring and playing in snow during winter. People use the grounds for walking, sitting, and spending time outdoors with family.

The park provides facilities such as a rest house, children's playground, and parking areas for visitors. The steep roads leading up can take time to navigate, so plan accordingly if traveling by car.

The observation deck provides simultaneous views of Sapporo's downtown, the distant ocean, and the flat plain below, merging three distinct landscapes in one view. This rare combination makes the vantage point particularly special.
