大乗院, Buddhist temple in Nara Prefecture, Japan

The Daijyo-in temple garden features a central pond with surrounding paths, integrating the views of Mount Kasuga and Mount Kōen into its design.

Established in 1087 during the Kanji era, Daijyo-in served as a residence for Fujiwara clan members until its disbandment in the early Meiji period.

The garden underwent restoration by garden designer Zenami in the Muromachi period, receiving visits from Shogunate officials and aristocrats until the Meiji era.

Located 15 minutes on foot from Kintetsu Nara Station, the temple garden charges 200 yen for adult admission and offers guided tours of its historical grounds.

Archaeological excavations in 1995 revealed original garden features, leading to restorations based on a historical painting by the temple's final head priest Ryuuon.
