Ishikawajima Park, Urban park in Tsukuda, Japan.
Ishikawajima Park stretches along the Sumida River and Harumi Canal with waterfront paths and green spaces throughout the metropolitan area. The grounds include several interconnected sections with different landscape designs and water views.
The park opened in 1990 on land formerly used by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries. That shipyard operated Japan's first Western-style private shipbuilding facility starting in 1853.
The Place de Paris section within the park displays granite paving and monuments that honor the city partnership between Tokyo and Paris. You can sit on the benches here and see the symbols of this international connection.
Multiple pathways connect different parts of Tsukuda Island, with easy access to the neighboring Tsukishima district. The park offers good overall accessibility with wide paths and clear signage throughout.
A time capsule buried in 2004 holds DVDs and commemorative items marking the 400th anniversary of Edo for future discovery. This hidden collection bridges the past and future while documenting an important milestone in Tokyo's story.
