Tonami Tulip Park, Floral park in Tonami, Japan
Tonami Tulip Park is a large flower park with millions of tulips in many different varieties that fill the grounds with color during bloom season. The grounds spread across a vast area and are divided into different garden zones.
The idea for the park started in the 1950s when farmers began growing tulips and gradually transformed the region into an important Japanese growing area. This development from a local initiative changed Tonami into a recognized center for flower cultivation.
The name reflects Tonami's reputation as a major tulip-growing region, and during the season locals and farmers sell their blooms throughout the area. The place draws people who want to understand how deeply this flower is woven into local life.
The park is about 15 minutes walk from Tonami Station and easiest to reach when coming from there. Entry is usually free, though special events may require additional fees.
The Tulip Four Seasons Pavilion lets visitors see tulips year-round because special growing techniques and indoor gardens display blooms outside the normal season. This building makes it possible to experience the flowers even in winter months.
