Rokuzan Art Museum, Art and biographical museum in Hotaka, Japan

The Rokuzan Art Museum displays sculptures and personal items of Rokuzan Ogiwara within a church-inspired building designed by architect Kenji Imai.

The museum opened its doors in April 1958 to preserve the legacy of Rokuzan Ogiwara, who studied sculpture techniques in France and created 15 artworks before his death.

The museum forms part of the Azumino Art Line, a collection of 18 museums that represent the regional artistic heritage of Nagano Prefecture.

The museum operates from 9:00 AM to 5:10 PM, with adult admission at 700 yen, and offers sculpture workshops where visitors create pewter keepsakes.

The museum building incorporates Christian architectural elements to reflect the religious beliefs of Rokuzan Ogiwara, who traveled through Europe, America, and Egypt studying art.
