Akita Prefectural Kakunodate High School, Highschool in Japan
Akita Prefectural Kakunodate High School is a coeducational public high school located in Semboku near Kakunodate Station, with modern facilities built on the grounds of two former schools that merged in 2014. The campus includes classrooms, science and art rooms, music facilities, well-maintained sports fields, and club spaces for student activities.
The school was established in 2014 when a boys' school and a girls' school merged, with modern buildings constructed on the land where the former schools stood. Before this merger, the site had housed an early middle school that served the region for many years.
The school takes its name from the town of Kakunodate and reflects the local heritage through its emblem, which features a cedar tree symbolizing strength and growth. Students experience this cultural connection as they walk through campus surrounded by traditional architecture and learn about the samurai history that defines the surrounding area.
The school is easily reached by train from Kakunodate Station, making it accessible for students traveling from surrounding areas. The peaceful campus with green surroundings offers a calm environment for learning and exploration.
The school maintains a sister school relationship with a school in Taiwan, where students and teachers regularly exchange visits to share ideas and learn about different cultures. This international connection allows students to build cross-cultural understanding beyond their local surroundings.
