Funabashi AutoRace Circuit, Motorcycle racing track in Funabashi, Japan.
Funabashi AutoRace Circuit was a motorcycle racing track with an asphalt surface and steeply banked turns. Eight riders could compete simultaneously over six demanding laps on the course.
The venue opened in 1950 as Japan's first officially licensed auto racing track. It operated continuously before closing its doors in 2016.
Racers at the venue competed under stage names and wore colored vests to distinguish themselves from one another. This tradition helped audiences identify and support their favorite competitors.
The location was about ten minutes walk from Minami Funabashi Station and easy to reach by public transit. The facility provided ample parking for visitors arriving by car.
The specialized racing motorcycles on this track had no brakes and used 599cc engines with two-speed transmissions. This extreme design demanded skill and speed through the turns.
