Kobe Flower Clock, Floral clock in Kanō-chō, Japan.
The Kobe Flower Clock is a functional timepiece at the base of Kobe City Hall, approximately 21 feet (6.5 meters) across. Seasonal flowers form the numbers and hands that display the time.
Completed in 1957, this was Japan's first flower clock. It began as a beautification project for the public square in front of City Hall.
The flower arrangement follows seasonal changes throughout the year, turning the clock face into a living calendar that reflects natural cycles in the city.
The clock is easy to reach and sits directly at City Hall in a central location. You can view it from multiple angles, especially well from the south side of the plaza.
A nearby subway station is named after this flower clock, making it a well-known landmark for local navigation. Local people often use it as a meeting point.
