蔵王橋, Suspension bridge in Aridagawa, Japan
Zao Bridge is a red-painted steel suspension structure spanning about 160 meters over the Futakawa Dam. It crosses a forested area and offers views across a large reservoir below.
Originally built to carry vehicle traffic, the bridge was later converted exclusively for pedestrians. This change transformed it into a popular walking destination through the natural surroundings.
The name refers to the nearby Mount Zao that dominates the surrounding landscape. People gather here during spring to walk among the flowering trees and experience the natural beauty of the area.
Getting here works best by car from Arida Interchange or local buses from JR Fujinami Station. The walking paths are straightforward and easy to navigate for most visitors.
The bridge floor is made with a steel grate design that lets you see the water directly below as you walk. This open construction creates an unusual sensation while crossing.
