Toyoshima Bridge

Toyoshima Bridge is a suspension bridge that connects Kamikamagarijima and Toyoshima islands in Kure. It serves as part of Prefectural Road Route 356 in Hiroshima and forms a key transportation link across the local island network.

The bridge opened in November 2008 and marked a major step forward in regional infrastructure development. Its completion significantly improved transportation connections among the islands in the area.

The Japan Society of Civil Engineers recognized the engineering excellence of Toyoshima Bridge with the prestigious Tanaka Prize.

The bridge provides a straightforward crossing between the two islands with good road conditions. Travelers can pass through freely during daylight hours and the crossing is manageable for most vehicles.

The bridge received the prestigious Tanaka Prize from the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. This award recognizes its outstanding engineering achievement and the high technical standards applied during construction.
