Mount Kannomine, Mountain summit in Osakikamijima, Japan

Mount Kannomine sits on Osakikamijima island and offers views across roughly 115 islands scattered throughout the Seto Inland Sea. The summit can be reached by hiking through forested paths that lead to high vantage points overlooking the island landscape.

Mount Kannomine, at 452.6 metres the highest point of Osakikamijima, lies within the Seto Inland Sea National Park. The summit area also holds a relay station for FM radio and digital terrestrial television, serving parts of Takehara, Osakikamijima, Higashihiroshima and Kure. Its RCC remote-control key ID is 3 rather than the usual 6, because the analogue main channel was not 1.

The name Kannomine combines kami, deity, with mine, peak, and the mountain is the highest point of Osakikamijima at 452.6 m. It lies within Seto Inland Sea National Park, and the summit area is the goal of the island's walkers. Three observation platforms stand below the top, reached on foot.

Wear sturdy shoes for the forest paths, as terrain can be slippery especially after rain or wet weather. Starting early allows you to enjoy clear views and have plenty of daylight to explore before evening arrives.
