Mount Kannomine

Mount Kannomine sits on Osakikamijima island and offers views across roughly 115 islands scattered throughout the Seto Inland Sea. The summit can be reached by hiking through forested paths that lead to high vantage points overlooking the island landscape.

The mountain served as a central reference point on the island where religious buildings were constructed for spiritual purposes. Osakikamijima itself developed a strong shipbuilding tradition that shaped its maritime character over many centuries.

The summit holds Yakushido Temple and Ishizuchi Shrine, religious sites where locals and visitors seek spiritual connection tied to the elevated location. These places reflect how communities associate sacred meaning with mountain peaks.

Wear sturdy shoes for the forest paths, as terrain can be slippery especially after rain or wet weather. Starting early allows you to enjoy clear views and have plenty of daylight to explore before evening arrives.

On clear days you can spot the Shimanami Kaido bridge spans connecting islands and distant Shikoku mountains from this vantage point. Extensive blueberry fields that characterize the agricultural landscape of the region are also visible from above.
