Ōkunoshima Lighthouse, Navigation lighthouse on Okunoshima Island, Japan.
The white granite tower of Okunoshima Lighthouse rises 5.1 meters high, featuring a cast iron cupola and black spiral staircase against white interior walls.
Constructed in 1893 during the Mid-Meiji Period, the lighthouse guided vessels through the waters near Mihara while the island served as a military chemical production site.
The lighthouse stands as a maritime heritage structure on an island that transformed from a military facility into a nature reserve populated by wild rabbits.
Visitors can reach the lighthouse through ferry services from Tadanoumi town, with the structure providing navigation signals for vessels in the Seto Inland Sea.
The circular base measures 3.8 meters in diameter and contains an internal staircase leading to a viewpoint over surrounding waters and neighboring islands.
