Ashizurimisaki Lighthouse, Maritime navigation tower in Tosashimizu, Japan
The white stone lighthouse rises 20 meters above rocky cliffs at the southernmost tip of Shikoku Island, providing guidance for maritime traffic.
Built in 1899, this maritime structure has directed ships through dangerous Pacific Ocean waters, becoming essential for safe coastal navigation.
The lighthouse grounds contain 150,000 Japanese camellia plants, with 60,000 specimens concentrated near the structure at Cape Ashizuri.
Visitors reach the lighthouse through a 2-kilometer coastal path from the Ashizurimisaki bus stop, which connects to regional transportation networks.
The elevated position of the lighthouse enables visitors to observe the curvature of the Earth across a 270-degree view of the Pacific Ocean.
