Untō-an

The Untō-an temple features a central hall housing sacred Buddhist objects and statues, surrounded by multiple auxiliary structures for different worship functions.

The temple maintains traditional Buddhist architectural elements dating back to early Japanese religious practices, when Buddhism arrived from Korea in the 6th century.

Untō-an temple hosts regular ceremonies, meditation sessions, and ritual prayers led by monks, contributing to the preservation of Buddhist traditions.

Visitors can participate in morning devotions known as gongyo and experience traditional shojin ryori meals, which exclude meat, fish, dairy, and eggs.

The temple provides overnight accommodations in shukubo style, allowing guests to sleep on futons placed on tatami floors and experience monastic daily routines.
