Kajō Central

Kajō Central is a 24-story office tower with 2 basement levels that stands directly beside Yamagata Station. The building houses offices, retail spaces, a movie theater, restaurants, and a visitor center within its modern structure.

The building opened in 2001 and represented an important step in Yamagata's growth as a modern city center. Its design by architects and builders shaped how the city would develop in the following years.

The building brings together local shops and restaurants where people gather throughout the day. It serves as a meeting point that connects the surrounding city neighborhoods in a natural way.

The building is straightforward to navigate with elevators serving all levels and clearly marked entrances. The direct connection to the train station is convenient, and the various facilities inside are well signposted.

The top floors feature an observation area where visitors can see the Zao mountain range on clear days, along with nearby towns spread across the landscape. This vantage point reveals how mountains and cities relate to one another in this region.
