青海橋, Road bridge in Koto, Japan
The Aomi Bridge spans the Ariake-nishi Canal, connecting Ariake and Aomi within Koto ward in Tokyo. The structure provides road access across the waterway and sits in a district reshaped by harbor redevelopment.
The bridge was built in 1987 as part of Tokyo's waterfront redevelopment plan and initially functioned as a construction road. It opened to public traffic in 1991 once the surrounding area development began to take shape.
The bridge links two neighborhoods that have transformed significantly over recent decades through Tokyo's waterfront renewal projects. It serves as a crossing point in an area where contemporary development meets older residential districts.
The bridge sits about three minutes walk from Tokyo Teleport Station on the Rinkai Line. Nearby landmarks like the Water Science Museum and Musashino University Ariake Campus help you orient yourself in the area.
The structure appeared in the 1991 television drama 'Fusoroi no Ringo-tachi III', becoming part of the visual record of Tokyo's waterfront transformation. It later closed in 2020 in connection with Olympic Games preparations.
