高崎タワー21, Commercial and residential skyscraper in Takasaki, Japan
Takasaki Tower 21 is a commercial and residential building rising 87 meters with 22 floors above ground and 2 basement levels of reinforced concrete construction. The tower contains 168 residential units, office spaces, retail shops, an art museum, and parking for approximately 96 vehicles.
The building was completed in February 1998 and was the second tallest structure in Takasaki at that time. It became a defining landmark for the city's skyline.
The art museum on the upper floors displays Japanese paintings and rotating exhibitions that attract both local residents and visitors. The collections reflect the artistic interests of the region.
The tower sits just one minute from JR Takasaki Station's east exit, making it very convenient to reach. A direct elevated pedestrian deck connects the building to the station, so you can walk between them without going outside.
The building was specifically designed to connect residential and commercial spaces directly to the train station through a pedestrian bridge. This kind of integrated urban planning was still relatively new in the 1990s when it was built.
