高崎タワー21, Commercial and residential skyscraper in Takasaki, Japan
Takasaki Tower 21, also known as 高崎タワー21, is a mixed-use high-rise in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, with 22 floors above ground and 2 basement levels. The building houses residential units, office spaces, retail shops, an art museum, and a parking facility.
The building was completed in February 1998 and was the second tallest structure in Takasaki at the time. It quickly became one of the most recognizable points on the city's skyline.
The art museum on the upper floors shows Japanese paintings and rotating exhibitions that draw both local residents and visitors. The collection reflects the artistic interests of the Gunma region.
The tower is just steps from the east exit of JR Takasaki Station, making it easy to reach on foot. A covered pedestrian bridge connects the building directly to the station, so you can move between the two without going outside.
The tower was among the first buildings in the region to combine housing, offices, and shops directly linked to a train station in a single structure. This kind of integration was still unusual in Japanese regional cities during the 1990s.
