棒原神社, Shinto shrine in Japan
Bobaratschinju is a Shinto shrine located on a hill in Tamaki, surrounded by dense cedar forest. The building follows Shinmei-zukuri architectural style, with simple wooden construction and natural materials integrated into the forested landscape.
The shrine was first built during the Nara period and has long served as a protective sanctuary for the region. After being destroyed during the Sengoku period, it was rebuilt in 1663 and has undergone multiple restorations since.
This shrine is dedicated to a goddess associated with stars and the night sky. Local people traditionally used star movements to decide when to plant and harvest their crops.
The shrine is approximately 13 minutes on foot from Jogita Station and about 10 minutes by car from the Tamaki Interchange. To reach the main building, visitors climb 88 stone steps that lead up through the forested hillside.
The shrine holds a unique connection to Ise Shrine's inner sanctuary, and visitors often overlook that this location offers clear views of the Pleiades constellation on starry nights. This connection between celestial observation and agricultural practice remains visible here in ways uncommon at other sites.
