のうが高原, Mountain resort in Hatsukaichi, Japan
Nōga-Kōgen is an abandoned mountain resort on Nogaihara Mountain in Hatsukaichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, sitting at around 500 meters above sea level. The site includes open hillsides, forested areas, and several empty buildings such as a hotel and former leisure facilities.
The site opened in 1965 as Hatsukaichi Tourist Farm and was renamed Nōga-Kōgen in 1971. It closed in 1997 after visitor numbers fell steadily over the years leading up to that point.
The name "Noga" comes from Nogaihara, the mountain on which the site sits. The abandoned hotel and leisure buildings are now overgrown, giving visitors a rare sense of how quickly nature reclaims a place once people leave.
The site is not easily reached by public transport and a car is the most practical option for getting there. Because it is abandoned, there are no facilities on site, so visitors should plan accordingly and take care on uneven terrain.
A solar power facility was built close to the old hotel buildings, placing panels and turbines next to the empty resort structures. This makes the site one of the few places where a former leisure area and a working energy installation occupy the same mountain slope.
