Taitōsaki Lighthouse, Maritime navigation lighthouse in Isumi, Japan
Taitōsaki Lighthouse is a reinforced concrete structure located at Cape Taito, the southernmost point of Kujukuri Beach in Chiba Prefecture. The tower rises approximately 16 meters and stands on ocean cliffs about 60 meters above sea level.
The lighthouse was constructed in November 1950 and has served as a navigation aid for vessels in eastern Japanese waters since then. Its construction was part of post-war coastal infrastructure development in Japan.
The annual Lighthouse Festival takes place on May 4th, bringing the community together to celebrate with local products and regional specialties.
The best way to reach the site is by walking from JR Taito Station, which takes about 50 minutes on foot. The exposed position on ocean cliffs means visitors should prepare for strong winds and slippery conditions during wet weather.
The location is known locally as a prime spot for watching the first sunrise of the year on January 1st, when many people gather to welcome the new year. This has made the lighthouse a popular destination for those seeking this special moment by the ocean.
