Nakano House Art Museum

The Nakano House Art Museum is a former residence in Akiha-ku displaying paintings, decorative objects, and fine furniture from the Meiji period. The wooden building itself reflects the architectural style of that era and houses the collection within its historic rooms.

The building served as the private residence of Nakano Kanichi, who started petroleum extraction in the Kanazu area in the late 1800s. It was later converted into a museum to preserve the region's industrial heritage and the family's story.

The residence shows how wealthy industrialists of the Meiji period decorated their homes and arranged their daily spaces. Visitors can observe the aesthetic choices and furnishings that mattered to these families.
