Tashiro-Ōta Kofun

Tashiro-Ōta Kofun is a circular burial mound situated on a riverside terrace, measuring roughly 40 meters across and standing about 6 meters tall. Inside, a stone burial chamber with multiple connected rooms features walls decorated with painted geometric patterns and figures.

This burial mound was constructed in the 6th century, when such structures served as resting places for important members of society. The site demonstrates how architectural skill and artistic craft combined during this period to create a lasting monument.

The inner chamber walls feature colorful painted designs showing everyday scenes and symbols that reflect what mattered to the people who created this burial place. These images reveal how ancient communities understood their world and what they valued.
