Shinkyō, Footbridge at Futarasan Shrine, Nikko, Japan.

The vermillion red wooden bridge spans 28 meters across the Daiya River, connecting the entrance path to Futarasan Shrine.

Built in 1636 during the Edo period, the bridge received its status as an Important Cultural Property of Japan in 1904.

The bridge represents a traditional passage between the physical world and sacred grounds, marked by its specific red color and wooden architecture.

Visitors can access the bridge throughout the year using public transportation to Nikko station, followed by a short walk to the shrine entrance.

The structure maintains its original Edo period design features through precise restoration work, preserving traditional Japanese bridge construction methods.
