Arena Tachikawa Tachihi, sports accommodation in Tachikawa, Tokyo
Arena Tachikawa Tachihi is a covered sports venue in Tachikawa, in the western part of Tokyo. It holds around 3,300 spectators and is used mainly for basketball and futsal, with strong overhead lighting and a large scoreboard suspended from the center of the roof.
The venue opened in October 2017 as part of a broader development of sports facilities in the Tachikawa area. During the 2020 Summer Olympics, it was used to host tennis matches when another facility needed its courts updated.
The name joins the Tachikawa district with the nearby Tachihi Station. On match days, fans wear team colors and fill the seats early, creating a shared energy that draws both regulars and first-time visitors from across the region.
The arena is a short walk from Tachihi Station, which is served by both the Chuo Line and the Tama Monorail. Checking the venue website before visiting is useful, as entry times and bag policies can vary depending on the event.
The building was put together using prefabricated parts, which cut construction time down considerably compared to standard methods. Despite its compact size, every access point was designed so that visitors with reduced mobility can move through the whole venue without difficulty.
