Kōchi Castle Museum of History

The Kōchi Castle Museum of History holds approximately 67,000 historical materials and artworks left behind by the Yamauchi rulers of the Tosa region. The collection spans multiple centuries and reflects the power and way of life of this ruling family.

The museum was founded in 2017 to preserve key artifacts from the Sengoku and Edo periods that originated from the ruling family. These periods were crucial in shaping the region's development and identity.

The museum displays artworks and objects that reflect the region's connection to its former rulers and their way of life. The collections help visitors understand how the local community was shaped by the leadership of the Yamauchi clan.

The museum is easily reached by tram, with the Kochijyo mae stop located nearby for convenient access. Wheelchairs are available on-site, and staff can assist visitors with navigation through the exhibitions.

Visitors can try on warrior helmets and clothing from the Edo period in a dedicated area, gaining a direct sense of samurai life and dress. This hands-on experience brings the historical period to life in a personal way.
