ノーザンファーム天栄, Horse training facility in Tenei, Japan.
Northern Farm Tenei is a training facility set in a valley with over 350 horse stalls distributed across multiple stables. The complex includes various training areas such as a large circular track, slope courses, and outdoor trails equipped with modern measurement systems.
The facility grew out of the earlier Tenei Horse Park, which was based on the former Hayata Farm, and entered a full partnership with Northern Farm in 2011. This merger brought together two established operations into one training center.
The facility trains racehorses following Japanese methods, with trainers and handlers working closely with animals each day to prepare them for competition. The daily work visible here shows how important horse racing is to Japan's sporting life.
The complex has multiple training areas including a 900-meter (3,000 ft) slope course and a 1,200-meter (4,000 ft) circular track, all equipped with automatic measurement systems. Visitors should wear comfortable walking shoes since the grounds are hilly and involve considerable walking.
The facility houses a private quarantine stable that meets Australian and international requirements for exporting horses overseas. This makes it Japan's only location where horses can be prepared and quarantined directly for international transport.
