Shiramizu Hisagozuka Kofun, Burial mound in Kobe, Japan
The Hakusui Hyotanka Kofun extends 56 meters in length and stands on a hillside overlooking the Ikawa River, a tributary of the Akashi River.
Archaeological excavations between 1987 and 1998 revealed over 1,820 glass beads within the burial chamber, indicating advanced craftsmanship during the early Kofun period.
The tomb structure contains wooden coffins sealed with clay, providing evidence of ancient Japanese burial practices and technological capabilities in the region.
The archaeological site remains open to visitors under the management of the Kobe City Board of Education, with designated paths for exploration.
The burial mound includes rare decorative items such as bronze mirrors with divine beast patterns, wheel-shaped stones, and jade ornaments from the period.
