Tsugaike Nature Park, Nature park in Otari, Japan.
Tsugaike Nature Park is a mountain conservation area at 1,900 meters (6,200 feet) elevation featuring marshes, rocky peaks, and a network of walking trails. The landscape shifts between open wetland areas and exposed rocky sections.
The protected area was established in 1974 and secured an important section of the Northern Alps. Its creation as a park was an early effort to protect this mountain landscape from development.
The park serves as a space where visitors observe how alpine plants change throughout the year in mountain environments. People come here to experience the variety of species that thrive at high elevations.
Access requires a cable car from a base station followed by a mountain railway to reach higher elevations. Visitors should prepare for changeable mountain weather and wear sturdy footwear for uneven terrain.
The area contains four distinct marshes each with different plant communities and ground formations. These variations along the walking routes create botanical diversity within a relatively compact space.
