照恩寺

Shoon-ji Temple houses a main hall adorned with projection mapping technology that transforms the space into digital art displays on a 15-meter-wide screen.

Founded in 1476 during the Muromachi period, the temple relocated multiple times before settling at its current location in 1590 under the patronage of Hori Hidemasa.

The temple combines traditional Buddhist ceremonies with modern electronic music and light shows, creating a new form of religious expression called Techno Hoyo.

The temple opens its digital art space every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with free admission and an on-site temple café.

The resident priest personally designs the visual projections and produces electronic music for the temple's multimedia Buddhist ceremonies.
