Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Łódź, Gothic Revival cathedral in Łódź, Poland

The Archcathedral Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka is a Gothic Revival church built from red brick, featuring two symmetrical towers and large stained glass windows set into its walls. The structure rises approximately 104 meters and forms a striking presence in Łódź's skyline.

Construction of this cathedral began in 1901 and was completed in 1912, during a period of rapid industrial expansion in Łódź. The completion of the structure marked the city's transformation into a major industrial center.

This basilica stands as the principal Catholic church of the Łódź Archdiocese, where the community gathers for worship and spiritual events. The interior spaces host regular performances of sacred music that resonate through the high vaulted halls.

The cathedral is open to visitors daily, and it's helpful to check the posted hours at the entrance before planning your visit. Guided tours can be arranged through the parish office if you want to learn more about the architecture and its details.

The Zillmann brothers incorporated 36 different types of bricks into the construction to create varying structural and decorative effects throughout the building. This meticulous craftsmanship is visible in the brickwork if you observe the facade closely during your visit.
