Olympic Stadium in Wrocław, Multi-purpose sports venue in Zalesie, Wrocław, Poland.
The Olympic Stadium in Wrocław is a sports and heritage site in the Zalesie district, built in the Art Deco style with seating for over 13,000 spectators. The oval facility includes grandstands, terraces, and a 352-meter racing track used for competitive events.
Construction started in 1926 under the name Schlesierkampfbahn and opened in 1928, with expansions between 1935 and 1939 increasing capacity. After wartime damage, Polish authorities rebuilt the venue and gave it its current name.
The place is known for hosting speedway races that draw dedicated fans and American football matches that attract a younger crowd. Evening events bring out the oval shape of the venue under bright lights, creating a shared experience that connects locals with their sporting traditions.
The venue sits on Paderewskiego Avenue 35 and is accessible by public transport, with merchandise shops offering team gear. Evening events benefit from modern floodlighting, while the open layout provides good views from most seats.
Architect Richard Konwiarz won an Olympic bronze medal in 1932 for the design of this stadium at the Summer Games art competition in Los Angeles. This recognition in the architecture category remains one of the few of its kind for a Polish building.
