Wrocławska Stocznia Rzeczna, Industrial shipyard in Kowale district, Wrocław, Poland.
Wrocławska Stocznia Rzeczna is a shipyard facility with a dry dock, port basin, and manufacturing buildings along the Żeglugowy Canal in the Kowale district. The complex spans several hectares and features typical infrastructure of a modern inland shipyard with repair and construction facilities.
The facility was built in the late 1920s as a project of the newly independent Polish state. After wartime operations and Soviet occupation, it returned to Polish management and later became known for constructing inland vessels for Eastern European markets.
The shipyard shaped the city's identity as a center of skilled craftsmanship and industrial production over many decades. Walking through the site, you can see the tangible remains of this maritime heritage woven into the urban fabric of the neighborhood.
The site is located south of the city center along the waterway and is easily accessible by car or bicycle. The area has an industrial character with fewer crowds than central attractions, but boat trips on the Odra River can be easily arranged from here.
The shipyard built not just boats for local waters but also constructed complete ship hulls that were transported downstream via the Odra River to Szczecin for final outfitting. This trade route showcased how Wrocław's position on the waterways shaped both production and commerce.
