Giebułtów is a village in Kraków County in southern Poland, situated northwest of the city of Kraków in the Gmina Wielka Wieś administrative area. It is made up of three separate residential clusters set among farmland and rolling hills typical of this part of the country.
The area around Giebułtów has been home to human communities since prehistoric times, as shown by archaeological finds from different periods. The village took on its present shape in the 16th century, when the Renaissance church was built and the settlement became more organized.
The parish church of St. Idzi stands at the center of the village, built in late Renaissance style with a plain stone facade and a tower visible from the surrounding fields. Sunday services draw people from all three parts of the settlement, and the square in front of the church is where daily life tends to gather.
Giebułtów is served by local bus routes connecting it to Kraków, which makes it easy to reach for a day visit or a longer stay in the area. Services in the village are basic, so it is worth coming prepared if you plan to spend time exploring the surrounding countryside.
Although Giebułtów looks like an ordinary village at first glance, archaeological finds from the site span several distinct prehistoric and historic periods, pointing to continuous human use of the land over thousands of years. This kind of layered occupation in a single small place is rarely so clearly documented in the region.
