Baligród, Agricultural village in Lesko County, Poland.
Baligród is a village in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship situated in a valley near the Bieszczady Mountains. The Hoczewka River flows through the area at approximately 340 meters elevation in a gently rolling landscape.
The village was founded in 1615 under Piotr II Bal, who built a castle between two river valleys. This early settlement later became the administrative center of the surrounding region.
The Catholic church constructed between 1877 and 1879 stands as a religious center, accompanied by a Greek-Catholic church from 1829.
The village has family farms and basic services for visitors exploring the rural surroundings. Summer and early autumn are best for exploring when paths are dry and the natural landscape is most active.
Military cemeteries on the grounds date from the years 1946 to 1947, marking a turbulent chapter in local history. Stones and foundation remnants of the former castle remain visible today, revealing the place's early importance.
