Stare Miasto is a historic quarter centered on a market square roughly 140 meters on each side, surrounded by reconstructed merchant houses with colorful facades. These buildings frame the plaza and create a cohesive urban space.
The quarter was founded in 1253 under Magdeburg law and began with wooden structures that gradually gave way to brick buildings. This transformation shaped the district's character over the centuries.

The quarter is easily walked and offers plenty of space to explore on foot, with trams providing good connections to other parts of the city. Visitors should expect crowds during peak seasons, especially around noon when the mechanical goats perform.
