Schronisko THF "Chata Wuja Toma" na przełęczy Karkoszczonka

Schronisko THF is a wooden building situated at 715 meters elevation on the Karkoszczonka mountain pass, built in traditional highland style with rooms and additional structures. The facility provides sleeping space for around 30 guests in various sized rooms and serves as a base for exploring hiking routes in the region.

The building was constructed in 1918 as a mountain cottage and later operated as student accommodation in the 1970s under a national organization. This evolution shows how mountain structures have adapted to serve different purposes over the decades.

The shelter is named after a character from 19th-century literature and serves visitors who come for regional mountain dishes and seasonal gatherings. It has become a gathering place where hikers experience local dining traditions while surrounded by natural surroundings.

The location is easily accessible on foot via established hiking trails and is frequently used as a rest stop by walkers. Visitors should prepare for changing mountain weather and bring appropriate gear for outdoor conditions.

The shelter sits at a junction of multiple hiking routes, making it possible to reach several Polish Crown mountain peaks within a single day. Many visitors use it strategically to cover several summits in a short time.
