Shelter of the Mayor of Poznań, Cold War nuclear bunker museum in Krzyżowniki, Poland
The Shelter of the Mayor of Poznań is an underground Cold War facility located in Krzyżowniki. The rooms contain original furnishings, communication devices, maps, and administrative offices from that era.
The facility was built between 1950 and 1960 as a command center for city administration. After the Cold War ended, it remained sealed off until 2000, when it opened to the public.
The shelter displays everyday items from the Soviet period that reflect how city officials were meant to function during emergencies. These objects show the reality of Cold War civilian preparedness.
Visitors can access this location on the last weekend of each month, and guided tours are available. School groups have access on the third Thursday of each month.
The facility preserves a sofa-bed used by the mayor, a vintage telephone switchboard, and air generators from the Cold War era. These items remain arranged exactly as they were when the facility was abandoned.
