Wieżowiec „Górnik I” w Katowicach

Górnik I stands 62 meters tall at Katowicka Street 65, featuring a rectangular layout with a central communication hub containing three elevators and a staircase.

The building emerged between 1964 and 1965 following Minister Jan Mitręga's initiative to provide housing for workers from the Staszic coal mine.

The structure forms part of the Centrum-I residential complex, which transformed the urban landscape of post-war Katowice through modernist architectural principles.

The tower contains 173 apartments distributed across 17 residential floors, with eight three-room and two four-room units on each level.

This building marked the first implementation of slipform construction technology in the Katowice Voivodeship, completing one floor per day during construction.
