Yasser Arafat International Airport is an international airport located in the Rafah Governorate in the Gaza Strip. The facility has a 3,080-meter runway, a passenger terminal building with arrival halls, and a control tower.
Construction began in January 1996 with international support from Japan, Spain, and Germany, and the airport opened in November 1998. From 2001 onwards, the facility faced damage to its radar station, control tower, and landing strip.
The terminal design incorporated architectural elements from Casablanca Airport in Morocco, reflecting regional influences in its construction and appearance.
The site has been largely inactive since 2001 and is controlled by security forces. Visitors should be aware that it is no longer operational as a commercial airport facility.
