The Palestinian Museum, Art museum in Birzeit, Palestine.
The Palestinian Museum is an art museum perched on a hilltop near Birzeit with pale limestone walls and expansive grounds around it. The structure combines indoor gallery spaces with outdoor areas, allowing visitors to move between exhibitions and garden sections.
The building was designed by an Irish architecture firm and opened in 2016 as the first sustainably certified structure in Palestine. The project was created to give Palestinians a dedicated place to preserve and share their own history.
The museum tells the story of Palestinian life through objects, crafts, and traditions that visitors can explore room by room. Each gallery space helps people understand how these elements are connected to everyday Palestinian identity.
The museum features climate-controlled indoor spaces and is accessible for visitors with various mobility needs. A cafe and garden areas provide comfortable spots to rest and spend time outdoors between viewing galleries.
The structure integrates into the sloping terrain through terraced levels that echo traditional farming methods of the region. The gardens surrounding the building grow olive trees, pomegranates, and herbs that hold meaning in Palestinian life.
